ICT Teacher09/01/2006
This year I was appointed as the ICT teacher for Berri Primary School and won the role of the Riverland eTeacher. My role as ICT (Information and Communication Technology) teacher for Berri incorporates teaching all year levels, from Reception to Year 7; and providing training and development for staff. My program incorporates many different aspects of technology; from recognising letters and keys on the keyboard to learning how to touch type. We also look at software programs and how and when to use them. For example, Micorsoft Word, Publisher and Powerpoint. We have purchased and updated many of the sofware programs available for students to use. They support literacy and maths skills for all year levels in our school and the students have really enjoyed using these programs. These programs can also be specifically tailored by teachers to fit in with their daily programs and to suit individualised needs. Learning these valuable skills supports students in using these in their classrooms in a variety of different ways so ICT is integrated into all learning activities and curriculum areas. The eTeacher role releases me from school for one day a week, Mondays. I work at the District Education Office, planning, designing and creating a range of online learning events for students to participate in. This includes using an amazing online program called Centra. This program allows students to talk in real time to other students around the state, show powerpoint presentations and see live video of the person they are talking to. Mr Trifonoff's Year 6/7 class recently participated in a Centra event, sharing their Powerpoint on bullying with 2 others schools in the district. |
