Room 8

Welcome to

Room 8

Hello and welcome to our room 8 website space, in 2008!

We’ve had a busy first few weeks of school….getting acquainted with each other, learning about year 3/4 expectations, experiencing different subjects and new ways of doing things.  We’ve also had opportunities to make new friends and work together, to learn different processes and gain lots of new and interesting knowledge.

Room 8 is a colourful, exciting place to learn and during term 1, this year, we have been learning all about China.  We have been learning all about China in our Society and Environment lessons and have especially enjoyed learning all about The Great Wall of China.  We shared lots of interesting facts about China at a recent assembly and also showed the beautiful art work we have completed, using our Chinese names.

We have also discovered who invented fireworks. *It was the Chinese.  We are currently taking part in some fun literacy lessons, based on this story and have only just completed some stunning Art work that shows incredible, colourful fireworks displays, using oil pastels and black paper.  We are looking forward to sharing these latest discoveries and Art work, at the next school assembly.

We have just started researching and recording information about an aspect of China, or Chinese culture that we are interested in.  We are very excited about undertaking our first project for the year.

In English we are concentrating on learning grammar and different parts of speech and language, such as adjectives, nouns, verbs etc.   We are enjoying our Maths lessons too and have been learning and practicing addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, graphing, number patterns, tallies, as well as two and three dimensional shapes.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and look forward to sharing our latest news with you, when we next update our website.

Bye for now, from Paula Bucon and the year 3/4 students in room 8.
