Room 5 and 6

Welcome to Classrooms

5 and 6! 

Mrs. K. Clarke, Mrs. N Clarke and Mrs. Smith’s Year ½ class

In our double class, there are forty children and three teachers. We have fun and learn in a friendly, caring environment.

In term 1 we are working on getting to know each other and learning all about the 6 C’s, Care, Communication, Courtesy, Compliance, Cooperation and Concern. We are also learning to be “sunsmart” and eating healthy snacks such as fruit, dried fruit and vegetables. In Resource Based Learning we have begun learning a little about our country. We are doing “Accelerated Literacy” and our book for term 1 is Farmer Duck. This involves reading in depth, spelling and writing. The children will be grouped according to their levels in these areas. In maths we have been collecting data about ourselves and measuring parts of our body, as well as working on daily quick maths in ability groups. 

Other weekly activities include handwriting, computer lessons, Greek, Art, Music, Technology and Junior Primary Play. Each morning a new “Star of the Day” is chosen to help with the daily tasks. We are so lucky to have a group of mums who listen to reading each day and we are very grateful to them. While they do this we enjoy playing with the play boxes, toys working on the new computers, making, playing with the outside sport’s equipment and lots of other activities. In our class we have a good behaviour chart where children are acknowledged for good behaviour by climbing the steps. At the end of the week we all look forward to the weekend, knowing we have tried our best and had a go, learnt new things and had fun with our friends.
