GREEK


Students at Berri Primary school students study Greek for two lessons a week. We also have a mother tongue maintenance program for students of Greek background and a dance group for any students interested in traditional and modern Greek dancing.

We have also learnt many Greek songs, games and have started doing some Greek dancing.

We are currently watching a DVD series from Greece about an alien visiting Greece and having lots of adventures with her new Greek friends.  We will be making a book about Mormo and including words and phrases we have learnt from the series.

TERM ONE

 

  • We learnt about the Greek National Day, the Greek national costumes, the flag and made “carnavale’.
  • We learnt new songs and games.  My little star, Good morning mum and dad.      

TERM TWO

  • The students leant about the ancient and modern Olympic Games.  They made various posters including: the flag, torch, wrote a story about an ancient athlete, compared the modern ancient sports.  The six and seven classes wrote and performed a TV report about the ancient Games.
  • The students also did a PowerPoint presentation in English about the Games

TERM THREE

  • We are currently designing our dream homes, learning words and phrases about the house and will be designing a brochure to sell our home in Greek.

We have a dedicated group of students that attend weekly sessions and have performed at school assemblies and the Riverland Music Festival.  Keep up the good work.
