The Reception/Year 1 children in this class have many interesting learning activities with their teacher Chris Griffiths.

 

Welcome to Room 1

for 2008!

Room 1 has Reception and Year 1 students this year.

TERM 3

In Room 1 we have been reading and learning about various fairytales as part of the English Curriculum. We have written stories, made books, and attempted some recounting, sequencing and role plays. We have also produced some Art work around this topic.

 

As well as using a Resiliency Program called ‘Bounce Back , our class has worked with Mrs. Castle (The School Counsellor) on a ‘Friendly Schools’ Program which ties in with personal development in Health and focuses on many bullying issues. Another focus in Health this term has been ‘healthy habits’. We have covered nutrition, sleep, exercise, cleanliness and the importance of regular doctor checkups.

 

Our Society and Environment/Science focus this term, has been on features and behaviours of  animals. We have compared the needs and wants and habitats of wild and  Australian animals, with those of pets. As part of this topic, the children have participated in research in the library. They chose a pet they wanted to learn more about and completed a ‘Pets’ booklet.

 

The children in room 1 have enjoyed many interesting and fun learning activities.
